The UP water tourism and adventure sports policy, 2023, was adopted by the state cabinet on Tuesday in Lucknow.

For a period of ten years, this policy will be in effect and will apply to all land, air, and water routes, dams, reservoirs, lakes, rivers, ponds, and other adventure activities to be conducted on various water bodies and land parcels throughout the state.

A thorough standard operating procedure document has been made possible by the policy in order to implement decisions made effectively.

The hills in the Vindhya and Bundelkhand regions of Uttar Pradesh, which cover an area of about 16,620 square km, are home to many picturesque landscapes, forest areas, flowing rivers, breathtakingly beautiful waterfalls, dams, reservoirs, and lakes, and they have a lot of potential for water-based tourism, adventure sports, and water sports, according to tourism minister Jaiveer Singh. The minister also said that in order to carry out this program, the nodal agency will establish divisional adventure sports units. To involve ex-servicemen in adventure sports units, the UP State Tourism Development Corporation will sign an MoU with the UP Ex-Servicemen Welfare Corporation.

The nodal agency will perform potential studies for water-based tourism and adventure sports on the listed land areas and water sources, and licenses will be issued for water-based tourism and adventure sports on each listed land area and water source. Within 60 days of when the policy was issued, the nodal agency would create a comprehensive SOP.
