Las Vegas seems to have an endless enthusiasm for shattering records. The Internationally largest spherical building, the MSG sphere, has recently been added to the city that already boasts the tallest Ferris wheel in the US and the brightest light beam on Earth.

Until nightfall, when it will light up like the Earth from space, the 366-foot-tall and 516-foot-wide tower will appear to be a huge spaceship, black and enigmatic on the skyline of Las Vegas.

The wraparound LED screen in the bowl-shaped futuristic entertainment complex purportedly has the finest resolution in the world. Additionally, it has 1.2 million hockey puck-sized LEDs on the outside, which are reputedly the largest in the world and can be programmed to flash dynamic visuals on a vast scale. On Tuesday evening, in honor of the Fourth of July, it was fully illuminated for the first time, according to CNN.

The exterior of the MSG sphere will be illuminated day and night with animations and other visuals, occasionally related to the season. On Twitter, several jokers predict that the massive, swirling images will result in car accidents.

A Las Vegas citizen tweeted, “The new $2.3 billion sphere is going to cause a million car accidents.”
