The Ramayana Trail in Sri Lanka and the Buddhist Trail in the Indian state will be promoted through a legal framework, as part of a strategy earlier this month by Sri Lanka to improve relations with Uttar Pradesh.

The internationally known actor was invited to visit the island nation by Sri Lanka’s Deputy High Commissioner, Dr. D. Venkateshwaran, who had met him there. The DHC claimed Rajinikanth’s visit to the island nation will promote “cinema-induced tourism as well as spiritual and wellness tourism” in a statement shared on Instagram.

“As a legendary figure, Mr. Rajinikanth’s magnetism will deepen historical ties and strengthen the link between the two places.
